With your weight to could ride either board. The 33.5 will ride deeper in the water than the 38 .... as you increase your speed and skill, you may prefer the smaller board. If you're just going to be jumping with no spins or inverts, you might be happier with the 38. I don't think there's much danger of getting bored with either board.
